IBA Karachi Wins US Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Award

The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) has declared IBA Karachi’s Womenx Program as 2017 ‘Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program Award’ winner. The ceremony was held on 21st January 2017 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is the first time in the history of USASBE awards that a university outside the US has won this award.Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (AMAN-CED), received the award on behalf of IBA.

The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Awards were established by USASBE to recognize excellence in entrepreneurship education at the programmatic level. The ‘Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program Award’ is given to an educational institution that offers high-quality innovative programs to educate coming generations of entrepreneurs in an area of specialty. This award is given on an annual basis for a program that displays innovation, quality, sustainability, comprehensiveness and impact.

IBA Karachi represented Pakistan and was competing with a number of international universities. The other 2 finalists include WIN Lab, Babson College and Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University.

IBA Karachi’s Womenx is a World-Bank funded initiative aimed at supporting women business owners through business education, networking and mentorship opportunities. USASBE is world’s largest professional organization dedicated to taking entrepreneurship to the new level.
