The Void’s new “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” is not just any VR experience, it’s “Hyper-Reality”

The Void, location-based VR startup, is joining hands with Lucasfilm and ILMxLAB to bring a Star Wars-branded experience to Disney resorts. The startup is best known for its Ghostbusters VR experience, which is available in 4 locations now including Utah, New York, Dubai and Canada.

“Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” is a new experience that will be coming to Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort later this holiday season. You must not confused it with regular VR as The Void says its new Star Wars experience is “hyper-reality.”

The approach of the company is quite extraordinary. It makes use of its own hardware along with deep integration of the physical space and its VR software allowing you to reach out and touch environmental game objects such as a railing or a wall.

You can say that it’s a little mix between what you can do with a consumer VR headset and  4D movie theaters where you can smell the stuff onscreen or feel temperature changes now and then.
