Google adds a Question & Answer section to Maps

Called Questions and Answers, Google has just launched a new feature for Google Maps for Android and mobile search. It allows you to ask questions about a place and answer other users’ inquiries.

The feature is pretty simple and useful. Like when you find a place in Google Maps you can scroll down in the business’ listing and find the new Q&A section between the business’ details such as phone numbers and the “popular times” widget. You will not find any questions there for now but that will change over time.

The new feature is more interactive compared to Google’s existing offerings. It’ll be interesting to see how users as well as businesses will make use of it.

The search giant is encouraging business owners to use this for an FAQ section as well. It notes that business owners will get a notification when a person asks a question.

Google already rewards those who review businesses, upload photos etc. and with this step it is expanding its current efforts to bring more user-generated content to Maps.
