According to a latest report, Samsung is planning to introduce a foldable phone in the coming year. The device would have a bendable display. It will be released under Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note line.
But as per the company there are still problems to overcome. The phone might be delayed if the problems do not resolve.
Samsung is still perfecting the technology while infinity displays remain popular and its flagship phones are selling extraordinarily.
It is for the first time that Samsung has openly expressed its intention to plan for a foldable phone, though there have been rumors about such devices since a long time.
According to Samsung’s representatives:
“When we can overcome some problems for sure, we will launch the product. We are digging thoroughly into several issues we must overcome, as we don’t want to just make a few, sell a few and be done. We want to hear that Samsung made a very good product. We have a plan to adopt a foldable display in our roadmap.”
Back in 2012, Samsung unveiled a bendable AMOLED display prototype called Youm. In 2016, it applied for a patent for a foldable phone that bends like a flip-phone.
